European Maritime Day -18 & 19 May 2017
The annual meeting point for Europe’s community of maritime professionals. The two day conference attracts more than 1000 delegates and experts from across the globe. The conference will connect scientists, politicians, academics and business people from a variety of related industries – from shipbuilding to tourism. The topic for the 2017 conference is The Future of our Seas. EMD 2017 will focus on four themes:

Poole Harbour Boat Show – 19 – 21 May 2017
Poole Harbour Boat Show at Poole Quay will showcase boats, RIBs, chandlery, clothing, accessories and demonstrations from over 100 exhibitors. Now in its third year, the show attracts over 17,000 visitors.
Seven Seas Festival – 19-21 May 2017
A free family festival at Harbourside Park in Baiter. Food, music and culture from the seven seas in seven unique arenas. The 108-foot tall Poole Harbour BIG Wheel will offer stunning views of Poole and Poole harbour. A music stage, Harry Rocks, will features some of the best local talent, and a children’s play are featuring an igloo will keep the little ones happy.
Sea Music Celebrations – 13 – 15 May 2017
‘Sea Music’ has been a focal point of Poole Quay for the last 25 years. Designed to evoke the sound and appearance of the cascading sea through interlocking rings and curves, with central vertical planes recalling the masts and sails of the ships, ‘Sea Music’ is an early example of Caro’s ‘sculpitecture’. The conserved and repainted sculpture will be unveiled on Saturday 13 May 2017.

A dynamic new outdoor performance bringing Poole’s maritime heritage of The Great Quay to life. Starting on the quayside, as the ‘Queen Galadriel’ ship sails into port and a crew disembark celebrating millennia of goods that have travelled the seas. Unloading their unusual interactive ‘cargo’, the crew dance, sing, and move in procession sharing stories from above and below the flowing waters, revealing wisdom and heritage of maritime life along the way.
